rechargeable lithium batteries, for everyday use
Rechargeable lithium batteries were once regarded as an impossible thing to achieve. Today, we do impossible things on a daily basis. Just take a look into your cell phone: it will probably have rechargeable lithium batteries.
Rechargeable lithium batteries were developed to get rid of the dreaded memory effect that plagued common rechargeable battery chemistries. Thanks to Li-Ion batteries, everyone can charge their devices without worrying about it degrading their battery performance. Better yet, it provides higher power capacity in a lighter and smaller package. The only drawback holding it back was its price, but mass production quickly brought it down to highly competitive levels.
Today, rechargeable lithium batteries are among the most common batteries used in cell phones, pocket PCs, laptops, notebooks, and many other types of electronic equipment. Our ever growing need for more and more power on mobile devices is pushing rechargeable battery technology to evolve faster than ever before. Who knows what we will be able to accomplish in the next few years?
